What Happens When You Bring Light to Dark Places?

What Happens When You Bring Light To Dark Places

As light illuminates ‘what’s there’…turning a light on truth exposes what’s been hidden, is difficult to see or understand.  Like turning a light on in a dark room… suddenly there’s clarity.

The next thing that happens is that anyone or anything afraid of being exposed – runs. If you shine a light into the dark area of a sewer… rats and other vermin disperse and run… for they must find another dark place to hide.

But as you know, this idea doesn’t just apply to rodents. It also applies to people, issues or situations that are suspect. You can probably think of a few examples where shining a bright light on certain activities would not be welcomed.  Why not?

Because in some way these activities are on the dark side, and those guilty fear light would reveal this. So they hide behind great sounding names like ‘the disenfranchised’, ‘diversity fairness’ or ‘unity’, etc.

So who could disagree with that?  It sounds like it comes from people who care…and so these nice sounding sound bites keep many from digging deeper into the actual agenda of those who are not working for the greater good, but who have have oppressive, self-serving motives.

When some concerned citizen comes along and says…”Why don’t you lift the veil a little so we can see what else is there?” …others might say, “What veil?  Look at what-all they stand for …they stand against discrimination and they help the poor.”  And as people don’t want to be accused of being politically incorrect, they find it easier to back down and not do the research that might reveal something that is of genuine concern to them, or could even be dangerous to the culture.

Some brave souls have continued-on to question anyway… and have carefully picked away at the surface of something that doesn’t look right to them. They may even become bold enough to call a spade a spade, to name names, or point out an actual evil affecting children, the sanctity of marriage, peoples health, or our basic freedoms.

Next thing you know, those questioning souls are being called radicals…or a word with the suffix of ‘phobia’ at the end of it.  Suddenly they are made to look like the enemy… a time worn tactic of the unscrupulous and those who want to divert attention away from themselves.

And seeing this, others are discouraged from expressing their concerns on what they feel the public has a right to know, fearing it could become a threat to their work in some way. They fear seeing their own good name sullied in the press. And if a celebrity, they fear being chastised on the nightly news or on a TV gossip show …so they back down completely from getting involved out of professional survival.

But light, having the cleansing affect that it does, tends to cause others to become interested in what is purposely being hidden from view, as suspicion is aroused when they see activities that are against their values, the laws of the land or the constitution.  And so they begin to turn on their own light … by sharing videos or talking about it to others.

And the more exposed the situation becomes, the more the culprits of bad intent start to look for other places to hide, and may even start to morph into another entity, or align themselves with celebrities or some credible-sounding authorities.  And if all this fails, they may camouflage their true intentions by using the press to hide behind – aligning themselves with ‘authority figures’, hoping this will disguise their actual agenda from the masses whom they think are ‘not smart enough to catch on anyway’...their mutual disdain for the general public being a major clue as to who they really are.

But what if  – what is at stake – is big enough and important enough that others begin to pick up the torch and carry it forward to still others …and more and more truth is uncovered and people begin to understand what they were previously blind to?

Does this hurt the truth seekers?  Or hurt the original concerned citizens who wanted to find out what was going on in the first place? Does this mean that they will be intimidated into nothing and slimmed by the press as others have been..?

No it doesn’t.

It’s a funny thing about ‘light’ – particularly if there’s enough of it –  its warmth often protects those who use it, leaving the darkness cold and unprotected…until those with bad intent have nowhere else to hide.  As all rocks have been turned over, and what’s hidden beneath illuminated, so that people feel a sense of relief – even freedom…from now knowing the truth.

Moral of the story: if you keep shining light in dark places … eventually there’s nowhere else for the culprits to hide. So they panic and accidentally run out into the light…where their evil deeds become even obvious to everyone.

As persistent light, like the rising sun, chases the shadows away so that truth is fully revealed.
